Strengthening Honesty Values through Role Playing Method in Aqidah Akhlak Learning

Character education requires learning strategies that can foster essential values in students, one of which is honesty. This study aims to strengthen students’ honesty through the application of the role playing method in Aqidah Akhlak learning at a madrasah. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design implemented in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects were 32 eighth-grade students from a State Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Mojokerto during the 2025 academic year. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach supported by percentage calculations. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ honesty from the first to the second cycle. This improvement was evident in students’ activeness, courage to express opinions, and consistency in demonstrating honest behavior during the learning process. These results indicate that the role playing method can serve as an effective alternative learning strategy to strengthen character education, particularly the value of honesty, in Aqidah Akhlak instruction at madrasahs
