Pemanfatan Limbah Minyak Jelantah Menjadi Lilin Aroma Terapi di Kampung Karya Bumi

Abstract

Kampung Karya Bumi, located in the Nambluong district, is a successful village in terms of agricultural development, but in the midst of this success there is a problem that is often overlooked, namely the ineffective management of household waste that causes environmental pollution and health problems. One of the household wastes that is not managed properly is used cooking oil waste or known as used cooking oil. Used cooking oil is cooking oil that has been used repeatedly to produce a blackish brown color. The mismanagement of used cooking oil waste lies in the attitude of people who throw it on the ground or into waterways which can cause pollution. In fact, in many cases it is often found that many people reuse used cooking oil for cooking. Used cooking oil waste that is managed properly by the community can create products with economic value, one of which is aroma therapy candles. This article aims to find out the negative impacts caused by improper management of used cooking oil waste, the reasons why people still consume used cooking oil waste, and provide education and ways to manage used cooking oil as a useful and safe product. This article uses the Asset-based Community Development (ABCD) approach method used to find problems (discovery), set targets (dream), design programs (design), determine program implementation (define), and conduct programs (destiny) by observing community behavior related to how to manage used cooking oil waste. This article found that the community ignores and lacks understanding regarding the negative impacts that can be caused by used cooking oil. This article shows that there is community behavior that shows indifference to the negative impacts of consuming used cooking oil or used cooking oil.
